Video is Rocket Fuel for Email Marketing
Take the analogy of your email marketing as a little fire, and this small fire is just wonderful. It maintains your body temperature and makes you joyful. Like your regular email marketing campaign, this one will be similar. What it accomplishes is effective, and it continues to be so in certain situations. Gaining some victories is a pleasant surprise.
Then you think to yourself: I really want a bigger fire! One that people desire to gather around and read in large groups. What I really want is for my email marketing campaign to go off like a rocket and wow a whole bunch of people!
That is exactly what will happen if you use video in your email campaign.
Many wonderful things may be accomplished by including a video in the body of an email.
Listed below are three things you should do to your video in your email marketing campaigns that will help them truly take off!
- Your subject line should include a video link. Why? Opening rates increase by 19 percent when the term video is used in your subject line.
- Incorporate a clickable animated GIF with a play button to inform the viewer that they are seeing a video tailored just to them. It is not sufficient to create a static picture.
- In your email message, use the video you make to hammer home the value proposition of what is being conveyed in that email, and let that video lead the recipient of that email down the sales funnel you want.
Studies have also shown that when someone views a video on something they are 50% more inclined to purchase that goods or service.
Now that the world's most successful marketers are including video into their email marketing campaigns, it's time for you to follow suit for yourself and your customers.
If you're anything like Doug, you're probably thinking, "How in the world do I even begin?" Creating an animated GIF and including it in an email is not something I can do because I don't have time to record a video, upload it, and host it somewhere, or creating an animated GIF and including it in an email that links to a landing page where the video is hosted is not something I can do because I don't have time to do it.
